Serene Landscaping ("we", "us", "our") is a landscaping and snow removal company based in Edmonton, Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect through serenelandscapes.ca and in the course of our work, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, for marketing emails, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). The short version: we collect what we need to quote and do your job, we do not sell it, and you can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time.

Information You Give Us

Quote requests and the contact form. Your name, email, phone number, property address, the services you are interested in, your preferred contact time, how you heard about us, your message, and any photos, drawings or PDFs you choose to upload.

Snow removal calculator. Your city, the property details you select (such as driveway size and walkways), the estimate the calculator produces, and your contact details when you book a plan.

Job applications. Your name, contact details, address, the position you are applying for, previous experience, whether you have reliable transportation, and your available start date.

Phone, email, text and in person. Whatever you share with us while we prepare a quote, schedule and complete your work, and invoice you, including notes and photos of the work area on your property.

We only ask for what we need. If you do not want to give us certain information, tell us. We may not be able to quote or complete some work without it.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, our hosting provider and the tools below automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this is collected using cookies and similar technologies.

  • Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads help us understand how visitors use the site, measure which ads lead to quote requests, and show our ads to people who have visited before.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising tools may be used to measure our ads and show them to people who have visited our site.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move through pages (clicks, scrolling and anonymized session replays) so we can find and fix parts of the site that are confusing or broken. Clarity is set up to mask text you type into forms.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your enquiry, visit your property and prepare a quote
  • To schedule, complete and invoice your work, and to honour our warranty
  • To contact you about your project, including by phone, email or text
  • To review job applications and contact applicants
  • To understand how people use our website and improve it
  • To measure and improve our advertising
  • To send you occasional emails about seasonal services, tips and offers, only if you agreed to receive them
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

If we want to use your information for a new purpose, we will ask you first unless the law allows otherwise.

Marketing Emails

We only send marketing emails if you check the email consent box on our quote form or otherwise tell us you want them. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email info@serenelandscapes.ca to be removed. Unsubscribing does not stop messages about a quote or job you have with us.

Who We Share It With

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job:

  • Website hosting and the software we use to manage quotes, jobs and invoices
  • Email and productivity tools we use to communicate with you
  • Analytics and advertising providers (Google, Meta and Microsoft) as described above
  • Subcontractors working on your job, who receive only the details needed to do that work

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, to collect a debt, or as part of selling or transferring our business, in which case the new owner must protect it the same way.

Cookies and Your Choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although some measurement will not. You can also limit ad tracking directly:

How Long We Keep It

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. For customers, that usually means the length of our relationship plus the time needed for warranty, tax and accounting records. Enquiries that do not turn into work and job applications from people we do not hire are deleted when we no longer need them. When we delete information, we do it securely.

How We Protect It

Our website uses HTTPS encryption, and access to customer and applicant information is limited to the people at Serene Landscaping who need it to do their work. Our service providers use their own security safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as PIPA requires.

Seeing, Correcting or Deleting Your Information

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used or shared
  • Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
  • Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Withdraw your consent to a particular use, such as marketing emails

Send your request to info@serenelandscapes.ca or call (587) 566-9879. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 45 days, as PIPA requires, and tell you if any exception applies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our services, tools or the law change. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
